TPO and PVC Membrane Roofing Installation
Thermoplastic polyolefin (TPO) and polyvinyl chloride (PVC) roofing are two types of single-ply membrane roofing systems. These systems are best used for commercial buildings with low-slope or flat roofing surfaces.
Although TPO and PVC are both made from thermoplastic materials and have general similarities, they each offer their own advantages. When deciding which system is right for you, Rio Roofing, Inc. will make a recommendation based on your commercial building specifications and what fits in your budget.
Both TPO and PVC membrane materials are resistant to oils, grease, chemicals, temperature fluctuations, and punctures. Because these roofing systems are made to last, Rio Roofing, Inc. can help to save you money in the long run.
TPO Membrane Roofing
TPO roofing membranes are made from ethylene or polyethylene thermoplastic, which is bound to ethylene propylene rubber. Your commercial building’s TPO roofing installation is beneficial in many way, including:
- Environmentally friendly and recyclable materials
- A white, reflective surface that reduces UV radiation, cools down the building, and helps with energy-efficiency
- A resistance to tearing, puncturing, and breaking
- A low cost and easy installation
- A resistance to chemicals
High Quality - Completely Custom
PVC Membrane Roofing
PVC roofing membrane are made by polymerizing vinyl chloride monomers and adding plasticizers. The plasticizers in the PVC formulation are what make it so flexible and able to adjust with any micro-movements of the building. The benefits of PVC roofing installation include:
- Higher durability
- Higher resistance to weathering, puncturing, and chemical damage
- Higher flexibility and ease to install
- A white, reflective surface that reduces UV radiation, cools down the building, and helps with energy-efficiency
TPO and PVC Installation
The installation process for TPO and PVC roofing systems should be handled by a professional. At Rio Roofing, Inc., our workers are trained and certified, so you know you’ll receive the highest quality of work and craftsmanship.
Our roofers will first lay down insulation, and then adhere the TPO or PVC membranes with glue adhesive. We then mechanically fasten the membrane with corrosion-resistant screws and metal plates. The seams between each membrane piece are then welded using hot air. This ensures that no water or moisture will get through the roofing system over time.
Finally, our roofing team will probe all seams to make sure the welding is complete and done correctly. We closely examine our finished work to ensure that your roof will last you for many years to come.
