What sets Rio Roofing, Inc. apart is the metal-forming equipment that we own in-house or can bring to the job site, allowing us to create continuous metal roofing, curved panels, and custom-made curbs that we weld to create an exact fit. In addition to this, we’re equipped to handle your bigger projects with our large fleet of vehicles. While our competitors might not have access to these machines and trucks for their projects, we own ours – allowing us to run our projects affordably, efficiently, and meticulously and mean every word when we say we’re the experts in the business!

A Little Bit About our History

Rio Roofing, Inc. is a Texas business founded in 1986 as a construction company building commercial and municipal roofs. Our founder, Herman Deane had over 40 years of commercial roofing experience. He handled every aspect of the business, even spending many evenings loading materials into the roofing trucks for work the next day. His wife, Dixie, did the books by hand.

In 1989, Herman’s son-in-law, Thomas Gonzalez, joined the company, bringing over 15 years of commercial and residential construction experience with him. Barbara Gonzalez, Herman’s daughter and Tom’s wife, took over accounting and payroll in 1992. Rio Roofing, Inc. purchased a property in Harlingen, Texas, in 1995, where we built a new 7,000 sq. ft. warehouse and office complex. The commercial roofing business became a huge success and has been expanding ever since. When Herman retired in 2002, he had over 50 years of experience in the roofing and sheet metal industry. Tom and Barbara have been proudly running Rio Roofing, Inc. for the past 20 years.

Keeping up with the company tradition, Barbara and Tom’s daughter and son-in-law, Molly and Hedley Hichens, joined the team in 2007, after receiving degrees from the University of Texas at Austin, to make Rio Roofing, Inc. a third-generation family-run business comprised of trust, competence, and excellence.

In 2017, we expanded further and purchased 18,000 sq. ft. of property in Harlingen, TX. We have been serving the Rio Grande Valley for decades, and our operations have grown further to serve the entire South Texas area.

Our owners & staff were proud to celebrate Rio Roofing, Inc.’s 35th Anniversary in 2021.
